Planning a family trip to Dublin and wondering what there is to do with children? The good news is that Dublin is an incredibly family-friendly city. It’s compact, easy to explore without a car, and full of simple activities that don’t require expensive tickets or complicated planning.
Some of the best memories are not necessarily made inside major attractions, but during simple moments: taking the DART by the sea, watching street musicians in Grafton street, spotting deer in the park, or eating chips on a windy beach.
Here are some genuinely kid-friendly activities in Dublin, divided by age group to help you plan your stay more easily.

Things to Do in Dublin With Young Kids

If you’re visiting Dublin with toddlers or preschoolers, you’ll quickly notice that the city works surprisingly well for slower family days. Many activities are simple, outdoors, stroller-friendly, and easy to combine with snack stops or naps on the go.

Ride the DART Along the Coast

For young children, the DART train is an activity in itself. The coastal train line connects Dublin city centre to seaside towns like Howth, Bray and Malahide, with beautiful sea views along the way.

Toddlers usually love sitting by the window watching boats, beaches and birds pass by. It’s also an easy way to explore without walking too much.

Take the Double-Decker Bus “Just for Fun”

You don’t always need an official sightseeing tour. For many small children, simply sitting at the front of a Dublin double-decker bus is exciting enough.

Take a route through the city centre along the River Liffey and enjoy the classic Dublin atmosphere: colourful doors, busy streets, musicians, seagulls and green buses everywhere.
Rainy day bonus: it’s a great low-effort activity when the Irish weather becomes unpredictable.

Explore St Stephen’s Green

St. Stephen’s Green is perfect with younger kids thanks to its ducks, bridges, flowers and open space to run around safely.

There’s also a great playground, plenty of benches for snack breaks, and sometimes musicians or little things happening around the park.

See the Deer in Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe, and one of the highlights for many families is spotting the wild deer roaming freely. Be aware that the park is very big and it can take quite a long walk to finally find the deer.

Bring a picnic, rent bikes if your kids are old enough, or simply enjoy a slow afternoon outdoors. Park rangers advise not to approach the deer so watch from a safe distance.

Explore Howth Cliffs

A day trip to Howth is almost a must with school-age kids. The cliffs, lighthouse, harbour and fishing boats make it feel like a completely different side of Ireland compared to the city centre.

Children often enjoy watching for seals near the harbour or climbing the coastal paths during the cliff walk.

Just remember: Irish wind is no joke. Bring layers.

Visit Dublin Zoo

Dublin Zoo remains one of the easiest family wins in Dublin.

The zoo is large enough to spend several hours without feeling overwhelming, and its location inside Phoenix Park makes it easy to combine with other outdoor activities.

Go Door Hunting Around Merrion Square

The colourful Georgian doors around Merrion Square can turn into a surprisingly fun scavenger hunt.
Ask children to find:

the brightest door,
the coolest knocker,
the smallest staircase,
or their favourite colour!

It’s a simple way to make sightseeing more interactive.

Visit the “Dead Zoo”

The National Museum of Ireland – Natural History is affectionately nicknamed the “Dead Zoo” by locals.

Its old-fashioned Victorian atmosphere feels almost frozen in time, and many children absolutely love the giant animal skeletons and taxidermy displays.

Best part: entry is free.

Teenagers can be harder to impress while travelling, but Dublin actually works very well for older kids because the city feels lively, creative and independent.

Explore Vintage Shops and Independent Stores

Areas around Temple Bar, Drury Street and George’s Street are full of vintage shops, record stores, bookstores and trendy cafés.

For teens who enjoy fashion, music or photography, this part of Dublin feels much more authentic than a shopping mall.

Experience Live Irish Music in a Pub

For teens, experiencing live Irish music in a pub can actually become one of the highlights of a trip to Dublin.
Many traditional pubs welcome minors during the daytime and early evening, usually until around 8 or 9pm depending on the venue. This means families can often enjoy the atmosphere, listen to live folk music and have dinner together before the nightlife crowd arrives. It’s a fun way for teenagers to experience a more authentic side of Irish culture beyond the usual tourist attractions.

Practical Tips for Visiting Dublin With Kids

To make your family trip to Dublin smoother and more enjoyable, a little preparation goes a long way, especially with young children.

One of the first things visitors notice is how unpredictable Irish weather can be. Even on sunny days, it’s worth carrying a light raincoat, extra layers and comfortable waterproof shoes, particularly if you plan to visit coastal areas like Howth or Bray.

If you are travelling around Dublin with toddlers or babies, you’ll be happy to know that supermarkets such as Tesco, Lidl and Dunnes Stores are easy to find throughout the city and usually stock baby snacks, fruit pouches, nappies, wipes and quick picnic food. Many cafés are also very welcoming to families and often provide high chairs.

Public transport in Dublin is generally simple to use with children. The DART coastal train and Dublin’s famous double-decker buses are often activities in themselves for younger kids. If you plan to use transport frequently, a Leap Visitor Card can help save money during your stay. Children under 5 travel free (no card needed) and kids 5-8 can travel free if you order a special card online. Kids 9-15 travel for a reduced fee with a kid leap card (can be bought in the city in most convenience stores).

One funny but important local warning: Dublin seagulls are fearless. Around beaches, harbours and outdoor seating areas — especially in Howth — keep a close eye on snacks and chips, because seagulls are well known for swooping down and stealing food directly from children’s hands.

Finally, don’t overplan your days too much. Dublin is one of those cities that families often enjoy most at a slower pace, leaving room for playground stops, hot chocolates, street musicians and spontaneous little moments along the way.

In Dublin, many popular family attractions can sell out surprisingly quickly during school holidays and long weekends, especially indoor activities on rainy days. Booking ahead can save a lot of stress during your trip.

Vintage Tea Trip: One of the most original family activities in Dublin, the Vintage Tea Trip combines sightseeing with afternoon tea aboard a beautifully restored double-decker bus. It’s especially fun on rainy days and tends to be a big hit with teens and older kids thanks to the cosy atmosphere and city views. If your child tends to get motion sickness easily, this activity may not be the best fit.
Viking Splash Tour: Half city tour, half comedy show, the Viking Splash Tour is one of the funniest ways to discover Dublin with children. Expect Viking helmets, loud roaring, lots of jokes and even a short splash into the water. Perfect for families looking for something playful rather than a traditional sightseeing tour.
The Ark: A cultural centre entirely dedicated to children and families, with theatre shows, workshops, music and creative activities throughout the year. A great option if you’re visiting Dublin with younger kids and want a calmer indoor activity.
National Leprechaun Museum: Offers a fun introduction to Irish folklore and storytelling. The guided tours are interactive and imaginative, making this a memorable activity for children who enjoy legends, fairy tales and magical worlds.

There’s something special about the moment right after a photo session. You’ve slowed down and spent time together. You’ve had fun, and enjoyed being present with each other in a new place.
Instead of rushing to the next “must-see”, this is the perfect time to keep that feeling going, and enjoy Dublin in a way that feels natural and unhurried.
Here are a few simple ideas of what to do in Dublin after a photoshoot, to make the most of that moment, as a couple, solo or with your family.

Take a slow walk around Dublin and stay in the moment

If we’ve just finished around St Stephen’s Green, Temple Bar or near Trinity College, you’re already in one of the loveliest parts of the city to simply wander.

For couples, this might look like walking hand in hand, stopping for a coffee, or sitting on a bench and watching the city go by. For families, it’s often when children relax the most, walking, exploring, or just enjoying a little freedom after the session.

Here are a few simple ideas for what to do in Dublin after a photoshoot if you feel like a gentle stroll:

Along The Liffey River, crossing some of Dublin’s charming bridges like Ha’penny Bridge
Graffton Street: for a lively atmosphere, street musicians, and beautiful storefronts (best enjoyed earlier in the day to avoid the crowds)

Cornucopia Wholefoods Restaurant the cosyest vibe, this place feels like home with comforting food, drinks and pastries.
Silk Road Cafe located inside the Chester Beatty Museum in the heart of Dublin Castle, it’s quiet and perfect if you plan to visit the Museum after your break.
The Cake Cafe in Portobello. Near the Iveagh Gardens, it’s a charming café nested in a quiet street with lots of greenery.
House of Read a small, old-style shop where you can enjoy a drink and a pastry in a quiet, soothing atmosphere
The Temple Bar Pub the iconic one you’ve probably seen on postcards; lively and full of character, but do expect it to be busy at almost any time of day
The Rolling Donut my family’s favorite place for donuts, with lots of vegan options.

Make it fun for the kids (and the grown-ups)

If you’re with children, this is the perfect moment for something simple and joyful.

An ice cream, a small treat, or even just sitting somewhere they can move freely can turn the end of the session into a memory of its own. Here are some ideas:

Stop in a souvenir shop to buy some postcards to send loved ones. Carolls has souvenirs and gifts shops all over town.
Visit a museum. Many are free and don’t require booking like the National Gallery or the National Museum.
Buy the kids a little treat in a cosy toy shop like Industry & Co – Kids
Shop for a special Irish book at the Winding Stair Bookshop or a vintage record / book at The Secret Book and Record Store

Soak up the Irish pub atmosphere

One of the loveliest ways to continue your day in Dublin is to step into a traditional Irish pub, and not just as a couple or individual, but as a family too. Pubs here are often much more relaxed and welcoming than people expect: during the day and early evening (usually until around 7–8pm), children are very much part of the picture. You’ll often see families stopping in for a casual bite, with kids enjoying a juice and a portion of chips while parents unwind with a drink.

It’s the perfect place to slow down, listen to a bit of live music if you’re lucky, and soak in a truly local atmosphere. If you’re with children, aim for earlier during the day when things are quieter and more comfortable. And if you’d like something a little less busy than the main spots, wander just a few streets away, some of the most memorable moments happen in smaller, tucked-away pubs where the welcome is warm and the music feels spontaneous.

Don’t rush, that’s the whole point

One of the things I love most about photo sessions like these is that they’re not just about the images.
They’re about creating space in your trip to simply be together and deepen your bonds.

So whatever you choose to do next, keep it simple.
Walk a little more. Sit somewhere. Talk. Watch your kids play. Or just enjoy the feeling of having taken a moment for yourselves.

That’s often what stays with you the longest.

That’s what I love most about sessions like these: they naturally become part of your day in Dublin, not something separate from it. At the end of the day, what you do after your photo session doesn’t really need to be planned.

Why do so many children dislike being photographed?

So often, photography asks children to perform: to sit still, to smile on cue, to behave a certain way for the camera. From their point of view, it can feel intrusive, overwhelming, or simply boring. Even when it’s well-intended, there is adult pressure to pose, to smile, to do it right. For many children, being asked to pose for a photo means being interrupted in what they were deeply engaged in: playing, exploring, daydreaming, moving. That interruption alone can feel frustrating or intrusive, and it’s often one of the main reasons children resist being photographed.

But what if we did it differently?

What if photography adapted to children instead of asking children to adapt to photography?
This is where child-led photography begins: by giving children space, agency, and trust. Fear not, this is not about letting chaos take over. Rather, it’s about meeting children where they are, and allowing real moments to unfold naturally. As a documentary family photographer in Dublin, I’d love to share more about this child-led approach and why it matters so much to me.

What is child-led photography?

Child-led photography is an approach where children are not asked to perform, pose, or behave in a certain way for the camera. Instead, the photographer follows the child’s natural rhythm, interests, emotions, and movements. The child leads, the camera observes.

Rather than directing children with instructions like “look here” or “smile”, child-led photography creates space for children to be exactly who they are in that moment. Curious, shy, loud, quiet, playful, emotional… all of it is welcome.

Why child-led photography creates more meaningful images

When children are allowed to be themselves, the images become more honest and emotionally rich. These photographs don’t just show what your child looked like, they reflect exactly who they were at that stage of life.

Child-led photography results in images filled with small, meaningful details: the way a child concentrates, their gestures, their body language, the way they interact with their environment or with you. These are the moments that tend to matter more over time than a perfectly posed smile and a fancy outfit. As children grow, they outgrow so many of those quirky, funny little things we love so dearly. Having photographs of them later on truly feels like gold.

Respecting children as individuals

At the heart of child-led photography is respect. Respect for children as full individuals with their own personalities, boundaries, and emotions.

Some children warm up quickly. Others need time. Some want to engage with the photographer, others prefer to ignore the camera entirely. All of these responses are valid and I welcome them!

By letting children set the pace, we create a safer emotional space, and children feel it. When children feel respected and not pressured, trust naturally follows.
I always ask children if they’re happy to try a gentle prompt, like reading a story together or interacting with a sibling. And when a child says no, I never push! We simply do something else. Respecting their boundaries is not a limitation; it’s what allows trust and genuine moments to emerge. Read more about how to prepare your child.

Letting go of expectations

One of the biggest shifts for parents during a child-led session is letting go of expectations.

There may be no eye contact with the camera. No big smiles. No matchy-cutsie outfits. And that’s okay.

Instead, you might get images of quiet everyday moments, movement, laughter, frustration, tenderness, or deep concentration. These moments are often far more representative of daily life, and far more meaningful in the long run.

Following the child’s rhythm

Children have their own rhythms. They move, pause, observe, repeat, explore.

In child-led photography, the photographer adapts to that rhythm rather than trying to control it. Sessions naturally include moments of energy and moments of calm. Nothing is rushed. This is why my family sessions are 1.5 hours, so we have plenty of time to pause for a snack, go for a walk, and include all of your child’s favourite activities. If you’d like a complete experience with even more time, then a day in the life is the right session!

This approach is especially valuable for sensitive children, neurodivergent children, or children who struggle with traditional photo sessions.

The role of the parent in child-led photography

Parents don’t need to do anything special during a child-led session.

Your role is simply to be present and respond to your child naturally. To hold space when emotions come up. To play, listen, tickle, cuddle, or sit quietly… whatever feels right in that moment.

Children feel safest when parents are relaxed. When you let go of trying to manage the outcome, your child is free to just be. It’s also a great option for busy parents, since it requires very little planning!

Why these photos age so well

Child-led photographs often grow in value over time.

Years later, parents frequently say: “This is exactly how they were.” The gestures, expressions, habits, and interactions become incredibly powerful reminders of a specific season of childhood.

These images don’t rely on trends, props, or poses. They are rooted in real life, which is why they age so beautifully.

Everything changes faster than you expect

When you move abroad with children, time seems to speed up.

The first weeks are intense, like a blur. New accents, new routines, new places. Your children adapt faster than you imagined, sometimes faster than you’re ready for. One day they’re asking where the light switches are, and before you know it, they’re correcting your pronunciation or explaining how things work “here.”

What feels huge and overwhelming at the beginning slowly becomes normal. And that’s beautiful, but it also means this transition phase, so full of emotion, is surprisingly short.

A personal note

I know this chapter well.

I moved to Dublin with my own children, carrying the same mix of excitement and fear. I remember wishing I could slow time down, just a little, and keep more traces of those early days. The unfamiliar streets, the new habits, the way my children looked at this city before it became their city. There was so much to do!

That’s one of the reasons I care so deeply about documenting families during times of transition. Because these moments matter more than we often realise while we’re living them.

When we first arrived, we lived in a temporary home before moving into a permanent one that still had the previous owners’ furniture. Everything looks so different now, with our own things in place. Whether you’re a solo mum every day, or just solo for the day, your family — as it is right now — is worthy of being remembered. A solo mum family photo session might be exactly what you need right now to celebrate motherhood, and the incredible little human beings in your life.

As a family photographer in Dublin working with many different kinds of families, I want to say this loud and clear:
a mum and kids family photo session is not “less” than any other kind. It’s just as real. Just as meaningful. Just as beautiful.

You’re doing the work. You’re building memories. You deserve to be in them.

Do I really have the right to do a session without the other parent?

Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes.

A family session without both parents is still a family session.
Whether your partner isn’t available, isn’t interested, or simply prefers to stay out of the frame — it’s okay. You’re allowed to go ahead anyway.

So many mothers hesitate because they fear it will feel incomplete. But what matters is who’s there, loving and showing up. And that’s you.

Are solo mums or shared custody families welcome? Always.

Whether you’re a single mother raising your kids full-time, or co-parenting in a shared custody setup — you are absolutely welcome.

In fact, many of the most powerful sessions I’ve had were with just one parent and their children, often a solo mum family photo session. These moments are filled with tenderness, chaos, laughter, trust… Everything that makes great documentary motherhood photography.

What if I’m the only one available (or motivated) for a session?

That’s more than enough.
You don’t need your partner to agree or be free. If you’re ready, that’s all we need. If your partner isn’t keen on joining the session, that’s totally fine. Sometimes it’s better to let them sit this one out — because let’s be honest, dragging someone in with crossed arms rarely makes for relaxed, happy memories.
Just you and your little ones? That’s more than enough.

Many of my in-home photo sessions with kids happen while the other parent is at work or simply not involved.
Think of it like this: your baby deserves beautiful memories of this time, and you deserve to be in those memories.

Absolutely. Whether you’re a solo mum or simply the only one available (or excited!) to be photographed, your story matters and deserves to be remembered — just as it is.

What if my partner doesn’t want to be photographed?

That’s okay. Not everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera, and I believe it’s important to respect that. You’re always welcome to do the session without them — and trust me, the atmosphere will often feel lighter and more relaxed as a result.

Is it okay to do a family shoot with just me and the kids?

Yes! A family doesn’t need to have two parents in the frame to be valid or worthy of photos.
Just you and your little ones? That’s a beautiful story, and I’d be honoured to document it.

Do you work with single mums?

Absolutely. I work with all kinds of families, including single mums, divorced co-parents who still want family photos, LGBTQ+ families, solo-by-choice, and every loving dynamic in between. You are welcome, exactly as you are.

Will it feel weird to be photographed alone with the kids?

Not at all. My sessions are relaxed, playful, and very low-pressure. I gently guide you when needed, but I also let life unfold naturally. You won’t feel staged or awkward. You’ll just be present with your kids.

My husband hates photos, can I still book a session?

Yes, you can. And you probably should. Many of my clients’ partners end up loving the final photos even if they chose not to take part.

You can book any time of year, and trust me, there’s magic in every season:

Let’s talk about the weather

Yes, Ireland is known for being… well, a bit damp. But guess what? That soft Irish light is a dream for photos. Even on grey days, we get beautiful tones and cosy vibes. And if it rains? We embrace it. (Or move indoors, I just love shooting at home!)

Honestly, some of the most intimate photos happen under a drizzle or with a stormy sky in the background. So don’t stress the forecast. Bring a raincoat, some wellies, and we’ll make magic no matter what.

What kind of session is right for you?

You don’t have to pick a “perfect” location or plan an elaborate shoot. I offer three relaxed types of sessions, all documentary and unposed:

🏡 In-home sessions

Perfect for capturing everyday family life, story time, snack time, blanket forts and all. Your home is where you’re most at ease, and it shows. No packing, no putting on shoes and no traffic.

🌿 Outdoor sessions

Want some greenery or sea air? Let’s meet at a park, the beach, or one of Dublin’s gorgeous nature spots.
Would you prefer a city vibe? Let’s head to the city centre and have a drink and a pastry in a lovely coffee shop or pub!

📅 Day in the Life (4-hour session)

This one’s for families who want to freeze an entire part of a typical day, from pancakes to playgrounds to bedtime cuddles. Real life, start to finish. For families who want the complete experience, all inclusive!

As a documentary family photographer, my prices start at €600 for classic, 1.5h sessions, with “day in the life” sessions being priced at €1500.

The best photo locations in Dublin

No family photography guide in Dublin would be complete without including the most beautiful locations, right? So, whether you’re a local resident or just visiting for vacation, I’ve put together a small list of places we love:

No car needed

Good news: you don’t need a car to find a stunning spot for your session. Some of my favourite child-friendly locations are easy to reach by Luas, DART, or bus. If you plan to stay for a week or more, you might want to buy everyone Leap cards for the best fares!

Sandymount Beach – For windswept walks and peaceful views of the sea.

Phoenix Park – Open fields, deer, playgrounds — and just a few minutes from the city centre.

St Anne’s Park – Big trees, beautiful gardens and a great market on weekends. Lovely coffee shop too!

Iveagh Gardens – A quiet, magical green space tucked behind the city hustle.

St Stephen’s Green – A popular spot in Dublin, very close to Grafton street, known for its luxury shops.

If you’ve got wheels: beautiful spots with a car

Malahide Castle & Gardens – Woodlands, gardens and a castle? Yes please.

Howth Cliff Walk – For older kids who love adventure.

Bray seafront – Just outside of Dublin, Bray is a lovely little town if you want a change without driving too far.

Ticknock – Forest trails, breathtaking views, and fresh mountain air.

Ardgillan Castle – Overlooking the sea, with space to run and play.

Many of these places also make a lovely half-day out, pack snacks and you’re sorted.

Family-friendly spots I personally love

Dublin is SO good for kids. A few places I recommend to all the parents I meet:

IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) – Great free and kid friendly museum with beautiful outdoor gardens. You can ask for a sensory bag for kids at the desk!

St Stephen’s Green playground – Easy access in the city centre, a beautiful green space with ponds, seagulls (watch your snack!), and close to cafés.

Irish National War Memorial Gardens – Chill vibes for this quiet park near Phoenix Park. It’s a kids dreamland with lots of space to run, play hide and seek and watch the ducks on the river.

The Ark – Located in the popular Temple bar area, it’s got creative shows and workshops for little ones.

Cornucopia – The cutest restaurant on Wicklow street: full of character, and totally family-friendly. The entire menu is plant-based, with hearty meals that are homemade, plus cakes and desserts that are seriously hard to resist. Feels like home!

Beanhive Coffee – Our favorite coffee shop, they have the most gigantic muffins you’ve ever seen and they are so, SO good (lots of plant based options, too). Don’t forget to ask for the latte art on your hot drink, it’s so cute!

Industry & Co – Kids – a lovely little toy shop with a carefully curated selection you won’t find in your average toy store. It’s small and full of beautiful, high-quality treasures that make perfect gifts (or treats for your own kids!). My personal favorite!

What happens after our photo session in Dublin?

After your session, you’ll receive a private slideshow to watch (and rewatch 15 times like most of my clients do), before selecting your collection.

You get a mix of digital files and a print credit — because I don’t want your images to live in a computer folder. I want them in your hands, on your walls, and in albums you flip through when your baby is suddenly a teenager.

Looking for something thoughtful and a little different to gift new parents? If you want to steer away from the usual cuddly toy or newborn outfit, I gathered 5 well-loved ideas that truly helped families I know.
I asked my followers to tell me the most appreciated gifts they received when their baby was born. Some came up often — so I’ve gathered them here for you to browse. Ready to find a meaningful present?
Here are 5 tried and true gift ideas for parents of a newborn:

1- A baby wrap or an ergonomic baby carrier

Ask any parent: having your hands free while keeping baby close is pure magic. No need to put them down or listen to them cry—it changes everything.

There are loads of options out there now, but if you’re unsure where to start, let me share my favorite: all three of my babies loved Storchenwiege wraps.

Sure, tying it seems tricky at first. But honestly? With a couple of good YouTube tutorials, you’ll get the hang of it fast.
And if you want to make it an extra special gift: add a babywearing workshop with a certified instructor—it makes such a difference in building confidence.

Wraps are ergonomic, soft, and adjust beautifully to both the baby’s and parent’s body. Brands usually offer different lengths depending on your size.
Not into wraps? Clip-on carriers are great too—there are newborn-friendly versions, and others that work better for bigger babies. Make sure to choose a model that supports healthy hip development—your baby should be in the “M” or “froggy” position, with knees higher than their bottom.

2- A homemade meal or a thoughtful food delivery

This was probably the most popular answer when I asked parents what gift they loved the most after their baby was born. And no surprise there—new parents are hungry, and they have zero time or energy to cook. Several mums told me they’d been gifted home-cooked meals by friends and family, stored in the fridge or freezer, and they absolutely loved it.

When you’re exhausted and overwhelmed, you tend to skip meals or grab whatever’s quickest from the cupboard. You end up eating poorly or not enough—and that just makes the fatigue worse.

To truly recharge, the ultimate luxury is having wholesome, tasty meals you only need to heat up. So skip the playmat (they’ll probably get two anyway!) and go for hearty lasagnas, gratins, fruit tarts, soups, and comforting one-dish meals. I promise—new parents will love you for it.

Bonus points if you leave the meal by the door, knock, and disappear like a stealthy kitchen fairy. Parents who haven’t showered in two days will be grateful for the low-pressure drop-off and you’ll be a hero.

3- The gift of a clean house (without lifting a finger)

If you’re thinking you could just offer to babysit so they can clean and tidy up… trust me, that won’t be the most appreciated option. The first few weeks are all about bonding with their newborn! (plus, they are super tired and don’t feel like cleaning). Instead, offer them a nap with their baby, while someone else takes care of the laundry, dishes, or lawn work.

You have two choices: offer them a cleaning service or roll up your sleeves and help out yourself!

4- A newborn photo session with their little one

Many parents find themselves wishing they had more photos of their baby’s first moments. The days at home go by so quickly, turning into weeks and then months, and before they know it, the first birthday is here! It’s then they realize they haven’t had that special professional photo session with their now not-so-little one. Newborn photography at home is an incredible gift.

If you’re looking for a meaningful gift that will give them memories to treasure for years, a photo session is the perfect option. Whether they prefer posed portraits in a studio or a natural, candid session at home, you can ask the parents what they’d love most and gather together with friends to give them this unforgettable gift. Some parents will try to catch up on sleep while stuck on the couch, their baby nestled on their chest, afraid to move and wake that tiny human they worked so hard to settle. Others, wide awake but too tired to move, will be grateful for a good distraction!

A great novel or a captivating series can help make the hours feel a little lighter. A few months of a streaming subscription or a thoughtful book bundle can go a long way. Don’t hesitate to ask your local bookstore for recommendations—they often know just the right reads for tired parents. Don’t forget about audio books too!

And while a book about parenting might be useful, don’t focus only on that. Sleep-deprived parents want to escape a little too! Think mysteries, fantasy, sci-fi, or light and heartwarming novels—whatever suits their vibe.
